Street extraction draws on my experience of interpreting space as an Architect. In isolating images from their setting dislocating scale, form and texture I think one is better able to understand what memory does to configure one’s experience of place. In taking snapshots of abstracted elements of the urban environment it is possible to both tell a story about a setting and also appeal to one’s more deep-rooted emotive experiences. Bringing together a series of mundane components of the street as canvasses enabled a collective appreciation of a street as a whole. Strangely, many saw their favourite street not the one outside.
